2022 emerald city hoedown

The 13th Annual Emerald City Hoedown will be held March 24-27, 2022 at the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle, WA.

2022 Emerald City Hoedown

The Emerald City Hoedown will feature over 40 hours of workshops, featuring guest instructors from all over North America as well as our regular Rain Country Dance Association instructors and favorites from the Northwest.

The Hoedown will also feature four full tracks of workshops on Friday and Saturday, and three on Sunday in ballrooms and meeting rooms on three floors of the hotel — Country Couples, Swing, Line Dance, and Taste & Technique. The dance competition will now occur at the start of the evening on Friday and Saturday, with practices occurring in the break between workshops and competitions. Sunday will also include three tracks of workshops, a mix of County Couples, Swing, and Line Dance, and an evening dance.

NOTE: this event will vaccinated only and will observe all state and local Covid-19 guidance currently enforced.

Out of abundance of caution and to protect everyone's health including our volunteer DJs and instructors, we are pausing Friday nights at The Cuff for the month of January until further notice.

We will continue our standard Tuesday night line dancing as this event allows for more distancing and greater air circulation. At these events we will enforce our fully vaccinated/masking policy. But we also strongly encourage our members to get their booster shot and opt for a more effective N95 mask instead of a cloth one.

We typically dance every Friday at The Cuff from 7-9:45pm with a free lesson from 7:15-8pm and every Tuesday at All Pilgrims Church from 7-9pm.

For a quick look at this week's upcoming dance, what dances we're teaching, and who is the DJ, visit our events page on facebook:

Our typical lesson schedule is:

  • First Friday:
Basic Two-Step and an easier line dance
  • Second Friday:
Basic-Plus (a step more advanced) Two-Step and review of the previous week's line dance
  • Third Friday:
a higher level line dance or two
  • Fourth Friday:
a Basic lesson in Waltz, East Coast Swing, Night Club, or Shadow and a review of the previous week’s line dance
  • Fifth Friday (if applicable):
a Basic-Plus lesson in the dance style taught the previous week before

On Tuesday night's feature line dancing at All Pilgrims Church. The lesson is at 7:30pm. We usually feature a new-to-Seattle dance roughly every third night of dancing and reteaches of other line dances on the other Tuesdays.
